Fertility

Trying to conceive can be an overwhelming and isolating journey. At Turning Leaf, we will be here to support and guide you through your entire fertility journey, whether you are trying to conceive on your own or with the assistance of fertility treatments such as IUI or IVF. We understand the physical and emotional impact that fertility may have on individuals or couples, and always incorporate support for emotional and overall well-being in your treatments.

Our practitioners are highly trained and truly specialize treating fertility, having a strong understanding of fertility from both a Chinese and Western perspective. We understand how to approach fertility from a Chinese Medical perspective for those trying to conceive naturally or in a supportive role for those working with a fertility clinic, preparing for an IUI or IVF cycle. If you are a patient at a fertility clinic, we will be your personal fertility guide to help you understand your treatment plan, know which questions to ask your doctor and support you through all your fertility testing and procedures.

Sharón is one of only a few practitioners in Massachusetts who is a certified Fellow of the Acupuncture Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) and works with top fertility clinics in Boston to integrate acupuncture treatments with IUI/IVF treatments. This makes Sharón uniquely qualified to understand your fertility diagnosis and treatment from both an eastern and western perspective, allowing for a seamless integration of acupuncture into your treatment plan.

Our Approach

During your first appointment at Turning Leaf Acupuncture, we will take the time to discuss your health concerns along with your health history, fertility journey and any fertility testing and treatments you may have undergone. In Chinese Medicine it is important that both female and male partners (when applicable) are evaluated since factors contributing to fertility struggles can originate from one or both partners.

Once your we have had time to review all your information, your practitioner will develop a treatment plan to specific to your diagnosis, which may include acupuncture, tailored herbal formulas, supplements, nutritional recommendations and healthy lifestyle suggestions.

While beginning acupuncture treatment during any phase of trying to conceive naturally or through IUI/IVF can be very helpful, our practitioners understand that optimum results are achieved when treatment begins well in advance of trying to become pregnant or undergoing fertility treatments. When possible, beginning acupuncture at least 3 months in advance of IUI/IVF allows for the greatest opportunity to improve egg and sperm quality, regulate menstrual cycles and balance hormones.
