Heidrun Jacobi holds a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from the New England School of Acupuncture and is a Diplomate of Acupuncture certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is licensed in Massachusetts by the Board of Registration in Medicine, and currently working towards her license in Chinese Herbology. As part of the curriculum, Heidrun completed 750 hours of clinical internship in Chinese Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine with expert Chinese medical practitioners at NESA as well as in several diverse clinical settings.
After graduating from Universität Bielefeld, Germany with an MBA, Heidrun worked in the corporate field for over 15 years. In order to better balance her work and personal life, especially after her son was born, she discovered yoga and soon noticed its many health benefits – physically, emotionally and mentally. A particular style of yoga called Yin Yoga in particular stood out for her as it builds on the principles of Chinese Medicine and seeks to stimulate the flow of energy through the body’s energy channels, or Meridians, to promote self-healing. Heidrun firmly believes that our body has the innate ability to heal itself and that we can tap into this potential through the food we eat, through movement and mindfulness techniques as well as, of course, acupuncture and herbs.
Heidrun is also a yoga instructor and martial artist, and in her spare time enjoys running, cycling and swimming. She is currently going through a 200 hr teacher training in Medical Qi Gong, which she finds fascinating as it blends the concepts of Chinese Medicine she learned in acupuncture school with movements that can be customized to mirror the needs of an individual. Heidrun teaches her patients these techniques to use in between acupuncture treatments to help encourage lasting health results.
Heidrun sees patients for a wide range of conditions including digestive issues, insomnia, women’s health, acute or chronic pain. She has additional special interests in psycho-emotional imbalances such as anxiety and depression as well as in pediatrics.
